Sarah Mya works
independently as a hairstylist at Ketér Salon, in Union Square. Working with hair for over twelve years, her
extensive education as a teacher and a student has focused on both Cutting and
Color. Her specialties include color correction and razor cuts.
Sarah
Mya spent over six years at Festoon Salon as a Stylist and Director of
Education for the Color Department. During this time, she taught for and
was educated by such prestigious color studios as Goldwell, Wella, and
L'Oreal. Most recently, she has added the art of Balayage to her color portfolio.
The
foundation of her cutting skills comes from studying under such masters as Inam
Yong (Hong Kong, Taiwan)
and Ray Adame (Los Angeles).
She has spent the last eight years honing her ability with many extensive
classes at the Bumble&Bumble University in New York.
Inspired
by the new era of environmental consciousness, Sarah Mya has been investigating
modern advancements in lessening the toxicity of hair color and hair care products. After extensive research, she has brought on
the first and only truly ammonia- and ammonia-substitute-free color line. This color line, containing certified organic ingredients,
produces excellent, salon-quality results, while conserving the structural
integrity of the hair. This UK-based company produces an extensive range
of long-lasting, vibrant organic colors that support a natural approach to
treating hair.
"I am passionate about excelling at my craft and always
seek to uphold the highest integrity in my standards. For me, education
is a continual process. I am always looking to expand my technical
ability and artistic vision. Though I never compromise my knowledge and
experience, the client's satisfaction is most important to me. My cuts
and color are highly personalized as each client brings their own
individuality. Connecting with the client through a comprehensive consultation
and ongoing open communication is a priority with each appointment."
